I had my first visual epiphany at age 9 in third grade when I was discovered to be very near sighted and got my first pair of glasses. I had no idea that other people saw leaves on trees! I can’t stop looking at things ever since. I loved art as a child and often stole my mother’s art supplies to make images. My favourite was a 7 foot tall pastel mural of Elvis. I worked through my life in many areas including wedding photography, graphic design, website
design, portrait and commercial photography and digital printing services for professionals.
I was one of the original owners of the first giclee printer the IRIS 3047 which I used to make 48” wide archival reproductions of artist’s works. I taught classes through the years at the Sertoma Art Center in Raleigh, NC and the Santa Fe Community College in both traditional media and digital art.
Never liking structure or schedules - now that I am “retired” my life is still the same. I make art as much as I can.
My formal education: BA degree in social sciences from UC Berkeley in 1969. Then a more chosen and meaningful second BA in fine arts at Meredith College, Raleigh, NC in 1990. Finally an MA in media arts and design from Highlands University, Las Vegas, NM in 2005.
I live in Tucson, Arizona but spend part of the summer at my pond home in Chimayo, New Mexico.
